VIKINGS MAN FC RECRUIT YOUNGSTERS AT TUT THROUGH TRIALS

The soccer youngsters from Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) and other areas around Pretoria proved that they are worthy of the soccer jersey of the Vikings Man Football Club (FC). 

Under 21-year-old soccer trials that were hosted by Viking Man FC in TUT Pretoria Campus stadium youngsters proved their worth beyond reasonable doubts.

Tebogo Malatjie who is a TUT student said, “I am glad that I am one of players that are selected in the soccer trials but I am feeling sad for those who are not selected so I have mixed feelings. I hope next time they will make it. We are all the best but the team is limited to select few players that is why they select best of the best.” Youngsters arrived with their shin pads and soccer boots ready to prove that they deserve an opportunity.

These trials were fair because there was no trial fee for all of them. The Vikings formed teams by themselves so that players could not set their line ups based on how much they know each other`s performance.

These trials were not only for TUT students but for everyone who had a desire to compete for the opportunity. Themba Zulu who is the Attredgeville Base goal keeper said that he was happy that there was no trial fee because other players would have missed this opportunity because of being unable to pay.

In these trials the Vikings did not want to select the best teams but they wanted best players from different teams around Pretoria, which is why they would select from both sides. They selected from the defenders to strikers, from the teams that won and from the teams that lost as well.

“We decided to host these trials for free so that all people can get equal opportunities. Our aim is not to make money but it is to help the diligent players to turn their dreams of becoming professional footballers into reality and grow our team as well,” said J O Mashiane who is one of the organizing staff of Vikings Man FC member.

Sphiwe Mnguni explained that even though he was not selected he is glad that he got a fair chance to prove himself. “I tried my best but clearly my best was not enough but next time I will do better because I believe in my dream I will not let my failure to discourage me but I will use it to do better so I can also be selected next time,” he added.

These trials were a success because there were no casualties, no players got severe injuries and none of them were engaged in physical fight. A number of best players were selected and the Vikings Man FC announced that it will host trials and select players in each and every year.
